Privacy Policy

Effective date:

The short version Timo doesn't have user accounts, doesn't track you, doesn't run analytics, and doesn't send your data anywhere. Your city pairs live on your device. Location, when you ask Timo to detect it, is processed on your device through Apple's frameworks and isn't sent to us.

What Timo stores

The city pairs you create — names, timezones, ordering, and optional group labels — are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData. They are also shared with Timo's Home Screen widget through an App Group on your device. They do not leave your device unless you choose to back up your iPhone via iCloud (in which case Apple's encrypted backup terms apply, not ours).

Location

Timo asks for "When In Use" location only when you tap Use my current location while adding a city pair. The coordinates are passed to Apple's MapKit for reverse geocoding (turning the coordinates into a city name and timezone), and the result is stored locally as part of your city pair. Timo does not log, transmit, or retain your raw location anywhere off-device. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Timo.

City search

When you type a city name to add a pair, the search query is handled by Apple's MKLocalSearchCompleter. The query goes to Apple under their privacy terms; Timo does not see, store, or share what you searched for.

In-app purchases

Timo offers optional, non-consumable in-app purchases collectively called Buy me a coffee — a tip jar with three coffee tiers (Espresso, Cappuccino, Flat White). Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. We receive a confirmation that a purchase was made (so the app can show a small thank-you), but we do not receive your name, email, payment details, or any other personally identifying information.

What changes after a purchase

The only functional change after any tip is that a small promotional banner for our other app, journeybot, is hidden as a thank-you. No core feature is gated, before or after. Restore Purchases is available inside the Support Timo screen.

Analytics, ads, and third parties

Timo ships without any advertising SDK, crash-reporting SDK, or third-party trackers. We do not sell, rent, or share data.

Both the iOS app and this website (timo.loam.sk) use TelemetryDeck for privacy-respecting, anonymous analytics. We use it to understand which features are used and how people get on with the app — for example, how many pairs people add, whether the widget gets adopted, or how often groups are used. TelemetryDeck does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not build user profiles. Each signal is hashed on-device into a non-reversible identifier so the same device looks consistent across signals without ever revealing who that device belongs to. No personal data — names, emails, locations, or city pair contents — is ever sent to TelemetryDeck or to us.

Children

Timo is a general-audience utility. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Because Timo doesn't collect or hold personal data on our servers, there's nothing to request, correct, or delete server-side. Anything Timo stores about you lives on your device — uninstalling the app removes it.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how Timo handles data, we'll update this page and bump the effective date above. Material changes will also be mentioned in an in-app update note.
